The end of the world, as I knew it

It has been exactly nine months since I have done anything with this here blog, not good. I am very sorry that I so abruptly left y’all hanging (yes I actually do have a social life) but you will not be left hanging for too much longer!

Before I started typing this post up, Continue reading

Father’s Day Adventure 2015

As the title suggests, we had quite an adventure this past weekend, on Father’s Day. On Friday, we drove from our house here in Palm Bay, to our old house in Orange Park, to get another load of stuff. We decided to stay the night there and go to visit some friends at a congregation in South Georgia on Saturday. Then on Sunday, I talked Dad into driving to Lake City, to visit my BFF for the day. We had so much fun.

So a few days before our little trip, I called Violet and told we were coming up there for a few days, and of course she insisted on hanging out sometime. It had been a few months since I had seen her so I was pretty psyched. Anyway, while we were on the phone, she old me about this place, called Bob’s River Place on the bank of the Suwannee Β river, just a little ways west of Lake City, that had all these water slides, and rope swings and really fun stuff on the river. So I looked it up, and talked Dad into taking us there. We had so much, like you cannot imagine the amount of fun we had. It was so cool.

Bob’s River Place was basically this place on the side of the Suwannee river, that has rope swings and water slides, into the river. The biggest rope swing, is about 50 feet up of the water, and the water is really deep, so no chance of hitting the bottom. There are also a few rope swings that are lower. You can also climb up to the top of the huge, old oak tree and jump into the water from there, which is I would guesstimate to be about 60 or so feet of the water. I jumped into the river from the highest rope swing, the 50 (or so) footer, and I will tell you, it was pure adrenaline rush. Like you would look down from the platform built up in the tree, onto the water, and like your stomach dropped out from under you, and I mean I had never jumped into any water from that high up, so to say that I was little bit scared, would be an understatement. Some how, though I got my nerves of steel to kick in and after a little bit of encouragement from the onlookers I did actually jump.

Another thing Vi and I did there, was we played water volleyball in the water volleyball court. That was a lot of fun, and something I nor Violet had ever done before. We also sang karaoke on the karaoke stage. That was so cool, but I had to literally pull Vi out there with me, to do it, LOL. We sang “Mama’s Broken Heart” By Miranda Lambert.

I took some videos of us there, and I might be posting them soon. But for now, you will just have to be satisfied with these pics that Me and Vi took of us goofing off, on our way back to her house. we are THE Selfie Queens! LOL Β πŸ˜›

Translation for Humide et Beutiful! French for Wet and Beautiful!

Dad has promised to take us back to Bob’s river Place, sometime soon, when Mama and my sis Faith get back in town, and I swear I am going to do the absolutely insane jump, and jump from the top of the oak tree into the water. I have already started psyching myself out for it LOL. I can’t wait to go back. For all my friends, who are interested in going, A) look up Bob’s River Place, Branford Fl, and you can get directions there. It is well worth the drive. You only have to pay 20$ for a car load of up to 6 people to get in, and that’s it. B) I promise to let y’all know next time we go, and maybe we can go together! πŸ˜›

House Hunting and my current heartbreak

We have been house hunting now, for a few weeks. It’s the normal, you know “Oh wow I like that that house” “Sorry to far out of our price range” or “Wow here’s a house we can afford!” “Not enough bedrooms, and we don’t want a condo” . . . . . . .and that is how it goes most of the time. Either the house is too good to be true, because it is, or it is just a little too perfectly out of reach.

We were set on one house, that unfortunately, got rented out from under us. At least that’s how we feel about to it. We were so set on it, and than we were about half of the 3 hour drive down to it, so all of us children could see it, when we called the owner to make sure he remembered we were coming, only to be told that that house has been rented already. Literally we were like an hour from the house, about 2 or so hours into the trip from our current abode, when this happened. We had to turn right around and head home. We had a few very upset people in the car that day.

Not only were we like most of the way down there, we were also mentally and emotionally there. We had already discussed sleeping arrangements and what we were going to be about furniture and all that stuff. And to seal that deal, we had stopped looking for houses after that.

So we have to move on.

Yesterday we signed all the necessary documents, for the closing on this house. We are officially no longer the owners of this house, and property! It’s both bittersweet and overly joyful for me. I am going to miss being here in Orange Park, so much. I will miss, all of my friends here, every single one, y’all know who you are, and I will miss you all so much, I will NEVER forget y’all, and Thank you for being the amazing friends you will always be to me. I will miss the country, layed back vibe, and mood, the close small town, yet still suburban feel, all the things that make Orange Park, home to my very soul. I swear I could drive around O.P. completely blind and still get exactly where I want to go. Don’t worry Orange Park, you will always have a piece of my heart here and I promise I won’t be gone for long. I am planning on coming back here, as soon as I turn 18. Trust me, my Orange Park, that 2 years isn’t very long, I will be back! πŸ™‚

Having lived here in Orange Park, for a significant amount part of my life and at a significant time in my life, Orange Park has become a part of me. I have become a country girl, living here. I have grown up here, and have embraced a lot of the, I guess you could say culture around here. I dress like a country girlΒ for the most part. Here you aren’t a “cool girl” unless you wear boots, a t-shirt, Miss Me jeans, and a baseball cap with a shiny fish hook on the bill, to the grocery store. Sure we country girls can and do sometimes do EVERYTHING in a skirt, but when we are just wanting to show off in Wal-Mart a little bit, that ^ is what we wear.

Much to the dismay of my Mom, I have picked a little bit of the accent from around here, and though I can turn it off, I can still pull of the southern accent pretty well without it sounding too forced. I have become an avid fan and follower of country music and country music artists. I don’t hang out with really preppy, prissy or city girls around here, so I don’t have much in common with those types of girls. I have been to the mall enough times to count on one hand, seriously, around here the girls don’t really hang out at the mall, you will find more girls hanging out at the high school football and volleyball games, or at the local Saddle club (my personal fav place to hang with my friends) than you will at the mall looking through racks of clothes. I mean to be honest, I would rather take a bunch of my friends out with a few four wheelers and dirt bikes, out to the nearest woods and go trail riding through the woods, then go hang out at the movies ANY DAY!

Here for the past almost 10 years, whenever I want, I have been able to go out into the yard, barefoot. Feel the cold dirt on my feet and between my toes. When it rains, I go out and feel the wet muddy-ish dirt on my feet. When I really just need to release a little bit of tension and stress, I just go outside barefooted and walk through the woods behind our house, and sing a little, it’s the best tension reliever. I have had the privilege, here to be able to have plenty of room to roam, here on our 2 acres, and not be trapped by endless pavement as far as the eye can see, or any houses right on top of us.

For the past few years, I have been sort of finding myself. Discovering who I am, and who I want to be as a person. Establishing my own style. I am not a cookie cutter Curtis (my Dad) or a carbon copy of Lupita (my Mom). I am really not even a perfect combination of both my Mom and Dad. I am Carolina Sunshine. I have my own opinions and Β views of life. I am my own person, doing the things I like, and pursuing my dreams. And in all of this I have realized that as much as I kind of hate to say it, Orange Park, has become a big part of me and my personality.

Like I was telling my parents yesterday, at this point in my life, granted I do not claim to know a lot of anything, but I have reached a point, where I dress, talk, act, like, do, the things I want, hang out with the kinds of friends I want, and listen the kind of music I want, and I really, aside from my parents, I don’t really care what other people think of my, or judge me as, just by looking at me. People can judge me by my cover all they want, but it won’t change who I am, it won’t change my view of things, it won’t make me feel worth more, or worthless, this is who I am and this is all you get. I am nobody that I am not. With only one exception, maybe, I am not going to start acting like you or doing the things you do, just so you will like me.

On the brighter side. . . . . . .

I hope that by moving I will be able to make even more friends, that will always be there for me. I hope that where we move I will be able to further my dream of getting a volleyball scholarship to college. I hope that I will become a better person, than I am now, because no matter what I do, and where I go, I am never going to be the best that I can be. I will always strive to be a better daughter, sister, friend, and trust me, I have a LONG way to go.

This year will be so big for me. I will be turning 16 in exactly 1 month and 6 days. I will be dual enrolling at the local community college this summer. I hope to get on a High School volleyball team this August. And yes of course we are now moving.Β I hopefully am maturing, mentally.

Well enough with the rambling, just had to let out a few feeling that I am feeling right now.

Oh by the way, Next Saturday, I will be running a 5k. I am pretty excited, because I really enjoy running, and it is good exercise. I will be training all this week, so I will be pretty busy.

I hope y’all have a really fun and awesome weekend!

Homeschool Prom 2015

Okay, so as I promised, I am now finally posting the pics from my pre-prom photo shoot. I was going to wait till I received the pics from the photographer that was at prom, to post all the pics together. But, I still have not received the pics from the prom yet, so I will just post those when I receive them πŸ™‚ Enjoy πŸ™‚

What’s Up?! Long time no Post!

Hey Y’all!Β  πŸ™‚ Wow, it’s been so long since I posted here! Well, here we go. I’m going to update y’all on what all I’ve been doing lately πŸ˜€

I’ve been pretty busy these past few weeks. Piano Lessons, School, chores, sports, family, friends from out of town, the list goes on and on! In the process of all this hubbub, I really have not had any “profound” writing ideas hit me, and I have not done any photo shoots recently either. So I decided to just do an update post.

Okay so I’ll start with school. We do school through the summer, because being part of a family that travels so profusely, at various times through out the year, we really don’t need a “summer vacation”. So I can’t actually put a date per say on when school started for us, but I can say that our county started school the 12th of August, so we’ve been in school for somewhere around a month or so now. Things have gotten very mentally exhausting to say the least. This past year, life has been so crazy, and my life literally went from “busy” middle-schooler to CRAZY High-schooler! So goes the life of a home-schooler, says my Mom. Yea Mom has a large part to play in all this, because she is my curriculum coach, so she really piles on the assignments! Still love you Mom! πŸ˜€ I have had a few extra classes added to my plate this year. This year I am taking Journalism and Computer Coding/Programming, along with all my other studies. The Computer Coding class has been really fun and interesting, so far, but when I get done most days my brain literally swimming in computer code. LOL. The Journalism class, is pretty interesting so far aswell, but it can get a little exhausting writing/typing and researching and editing for long periods of time, can get at least a little monotonous. LOL, but whatever, I can deal with it. BTW, as a little spoiler, i will be posting some of my journalistic pieces sometime soon.

Next up: Chores! Not much I can really say for those, except, they like to take over my life, and the very second I think that I’m “done” with my allotted chores, another one falls out of nowhere. Thanks a lot Chores, don’t know what I would do with out you. LOL πŸ˜›

Yes! Sports, this year I will once again be playing for our local YMCA. This year though, I will be playing Girls Volleyball. I’m pretty excited. I really like playing volleyball, and I have never played for an actual organized team with players my age. So the season starts the week of Sept. 24th. I’m VERY excited. My sister Allie will also be playing, though not on my team. Also concerning sports, it looks like I will be going to my first football game! So super excited about that! The game is on Oct. 3rd, and it will be between our local high school, Orange Park High, and the high school of the nearby town of Lake City, Colombia High, the school that my best friend Sam plays for. I’m really like overly excited about that one too! LOL πŸ˜€

My Family, well that subject is going to take a little while LOL πŸ˜› Everyone is growing up so fast! Noah will be 6 this Nov. I’ve said it before, and I guess I’ll say it again, this year has been the fastest flying year I have experienced in a long time, literally it has come and gone already. I can’t believe Sukkot is next month! Wow! I will also say, though, that all my sisters are getting very pretty. I’m almost jealous sometimes,I honestly think they are all going a lot prettier than me! πŸ™‚ Mama, and I were talking about it a few days ago, and it really is true, Faith is certainly going to be down right gorgeous! Maggie, and Allie, are pretty close being her in the running. I know is probably a little unfair because I know that all my sisters are very beautiful in different ways, Maggie is very exotic-ly (Oh well, it’s my word, no you can’t have it :P) beautiful, and so is Allie. Faith is hard to explain, all I can really say is that she is going to be really beautiful, she already is. I am just another pretty face, really, I’m nothing special, LOL. Oh and not to leave Noah out, that little man is going to have problems when he gets into his teenage years. In case you don’t get the implication, Noah is really going to be very handsome.

We were graced with the pleasure of seeing our dear friends the Hackney family, this past August. We have known the Hackneys since 2006. We met them at the St. Petersburg International Boat Show, and our Mother’s hit it off immediately, and we know their kids, and their kids know us well enough to easily be our own cousins, though there is no blood relation between our families. Ever since then we have been friends. They have five children, as well. Shortly after we met them, they sold their house in Clearwater Fla. and moved aboard their very spacious, and totally awesome 48 foot catamaran named ‘Take Two’. My Mom, and Their Mom, Miss Tanya, are so alike, I mean it’s crazy sometimes, like they finish each other’s sentences and stuff, and know exactly what the other is talking about, before they’ve even like explained it and stuff, so it is really funny, when those two get together. Their children, all younger than I, but not by much, are really fun to hang with as well. Just about every time we see them, we end up hanging out with them on their boat for a while just talking, catching up, and/or playing with Legos, which always brings back memories of the days when i was younger and we too live on our sailboat.

This time around, they stopped in St. Augustine, a town just about 45 mins from our house, for the week. We just could not turn up the invitation to go hang with them, especially since they were so close! (FYI, we have driven at least 100 miles out of our way to go see these good friends of our, before). As usual, we had an awesome time with them. We hung out on their boat with them, ate lunch and caught up for a little while, and then we all went to the beach. After the beach we went back to their boat, showered on the dock, with the hose (Love showering on the dock! LOL, had to do it, ‘cuz I normally don’t do that on a daily basis) Β and then ordered two 24 inch pizzas for dinner. Now, I kid you not, those 24″ pizzas were inhaled within about 10 mins flat by 10 HUNGRY Kids, ranging from ages 15 to 3, and only 4 of which were boys! It was a sight to behold. We all cracked up with laughter after all the pizza was gone, and it had only been like 10 mins, it was just too funny.

So let’s see, what else is there? Oh yea I have been spending almost every weekend on the beach, so I have gotten my hair to bleach out a few shades. Kinda cool to see science at work like that, and also look a lot cooler at the same time πŸ˜› I like my hair a little lighter, in color, I actually think it looks a little better πŸ™‚ Not to mention the 5 – 6 times that I got a nice red sunburn, not always fun.

About two weeks ago, we also finally got some waves here. The best waves we’ve had all summer, so I got to take the Surf board out, and did a little surfing. My surfing need a lot of work, LOL, but in the absence of waves, my skate board has actually gotten a lot of use.

I did a lot of stuff this summer that I haven’t done other summers, and I didn’t do a lot of stuff I usually do during the summer. For example, I spent uncountable nights texting my two very best friends, late into night, something that I would happily do, just about anytime, given the chance. One thing that I know for a fact that I did not do, that I have done so many times, during past summers, is I have yet to wake up at 5 am with my Father, to drive to the beach and just hang out and watch the sunrise off the ocean. In fact, I have not even woken up any earlier than 8:30 am, something that is very unusual for me, especially during the summer. I know I could go on, with numerous things, that I have not done this summer, that I wish I had, but to be honest, I’m pretty happy with the stuff I have done this Summer.

Oh and last but not least, my sisters and I have been enrolled in Piano lessons. So every Thursday, we go to our piano lessons. That has been very fun, and we look forward to it, every week. I think we are all pretty about the prospect of learning to read music and being able to play the piano. πŸ™‚

Well that’s all I can Think of right now, that has been going on recently, so. I hope y’all all had an awesome summer.

I am going to add a song to the bottom of this post, that I really have been enjoying recently πŸ˜› \

Just for those of you, who don’t what, or who the Maccabeats are, they are a acapella (Music that only uses voice and hands/feet, no instruments) group from the Yeshiva Univ. The Yeshiva Univ. is an all Jewish Univ. in NYC. Check out their website, which as all their music videos, and lyrics, as well as appearance schedules. Oh yea their amazing story is there too. πŸ™‚ One of my totally favorite groups.

Peace y’all!
